 In addition to being licensed to practice acupuncture, he is the past chairman of the American Association of Equine Practitioners Owner Education Committee, served on the AAEP Board of Directors, the Board of Directors for the American College of Theriogenology ( www.theriogenology.org), and on the King Ranch Board of Directors. Dr. Espy has also served as the AAEP liaison for the Board of Directors of the Texas Equine Veterinary Association.  He serves on the ethics and grievance committee for the Texas Veterinary Medical Examiners.
  Dr. Espy currently practices almost exclusively on professional rodeo timed event horses and because of this, is licensed in four (4) states.  He provides for the veterinary care and breeding of 200 bucking horses in Colorado.  He is the veterinarian for the Percherons owned by Young Living Essential Oils in Mona, Utah that won the 2019 National Champion 6-hitch and 8-hitch, and has been the head of the Veterinary Services for the last 24 years at the San Antonio Stock Show and Rodeo.  During this specific show Dr. Espy controls the movement and care of 60,000 individual animals over the 18 days of the show.  This also includes 25,000 junior stock show entries, the largest junior stock show in the world.  Since 2011, Dr. Espy has been a consultant on the Animal Care and Welfare Committee for the Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association (PRCA). He was a finalist for the 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 PRCA Veterinarian of the Year.
